IGNITE Confirmation

7th & 8th Grade IGNITE Confirmation

Confirmation ministry at Faith Lutheran is one of the most important elements of our faith formation program.

Middle school students are full of questions! They are rapidly learning, growing, and changing. They are curious about themselves, about each other, and about the world as they start to become more independent from their parents. We want students to connect to each other and to their small group guides to explore their faith and their identity side by side in a safe, supportive, and nurturing space. One of our themes underneath all of confirmation will be to look at how we can apply the spiritual practices of our baptismal promises in our everyday life.

Curriculum
For 8th Graders, Pastor Katie will be lead teaching and working as the main coordinator for parents and small group guides. She has a whole year designed on what it means to be a Lutheran in theology, spirituality, and ethics.

8th grade students will learn about how Martin Luther read the Bible; wrestle with ideas like grace, law & gospel, and theology of the cross; and get a sense of where Lutherans come from and where they are now, worldwide.

For 7th graders, all small groups will be mixed gender. This move will help balance the group experience for all students and guides. Shane will be doing some additional training and meeting with small groups and their guides during the year as we transition to this new model.

7th Grade curriculum is The Bible and The Big Questions, looking at how Jesus answers the questions “Who Am I? | Why Am I Here? | What Is The Meaning of Life? | What Is My Calling?” Each of these four units has accompanying spiritual practices and ways to implement them in daily life.
